FEATURED SPEAKER: Doc Fletcher
Saturday, March 10th – 1:30 pm – 3:00 pm
PBS-featured author and life-long Michigan resident Doc Fletcher’s River Program.
The hour-long program will focus primarily on rivers featured in his new book,
“Paddling Michigan’s Hidden Beauty” (published Jan 2012 by Arbutus Press).
The book details 20 canoeing and kayaking adventures across both the Upper
and Lower Peninsulas.

Experienced paddlers will be introduced to little known rivers, and novices will be moved
to enjoy fi rsthand the beauty of the rivers and their environs. With a subject matter such as
Michigan’s rivers, the pictures will make for a visual delight for all who attend.
At the end of each program, a free drawing will be held and one person will win a gift certifi cate
good for a canoe or kayak day trip. The use of the boats and drop-off s/pick-ups are donated by
liveries (rentals) across towns in the U.P. & L.P. The trip winner will be drawn at random from
the tickets handed out to attendees. Canoe/kayak livery brochures & state maps will be made
available to assist attendees in planning river trips.

For those interested, Doc will sign and sell copies of his 4 published books on canoeing and
kayaking in Michigan and Wisconsin.

You can learn more about Doc and his books at www.canoeingmichiganrivers.com.
He can be contacted directly at weekendcanoeingmi@gmail.com.
